Rates of overdose, injuries, and abuse of drugs and alcohol are a major national health concern.
At ICS, we take the perspective that substance use disorders are the result of interactions among individual, family, and community factors. We work to decrease social disparities and address social determinants of substance use disorders. And to provide communities and local leaders with the tools they need for selecting appropriate interventions.
Problem: Improving access to Medical Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorders.
Solution: Facilitating the expansion of physicans and medical providers who receive waivers to provide MAT. And, researching where geographic gaps remain.

Problem: Poor representation of racial and ethnic minorities in behavioral health professions.
Solution: Leading the Minority Fellowship Program, ICS affiliated staff have facilitated the growth and mentoring of hundreds of providers who both identify as and work with racial minorities.
